Why is Sony Vegas only 200mb and other editors a few GB?

On the system requirements it says only 200 mb needed for program installation. Adobe premiere requires 5 GB, cyberlink power director 5 GB. Is it because sony vegas is just a bare bones editor with no content, and premiere and power director have lots of content? (music tracks, sound effects, videos, etc.)

power director doesn't use no 5 gb of space, that's for sure. some editors place their caches within their own installation directories, vegas probably uses the windows system cache.

i think he's referring to installed hard disk usage. as in the size of the installer program. vegas is tiny(~300mb) compared to others, but as he mentions it is only an editor with a few simple transitions unlike p.d. etc. that are all in one dvd creation programs. premiere pro by itself is only about 700mb, without any of the other adobe programs.

The size of the install reflects more the efficiency of the coding than anything else. Adobe programs are infamous as bloatware. Are you asking about extras packed on the install disc?

The Vegas Movie Studio 10 Platinum Install DVD is 1.55 GB if that is what you are asking.
