  1. Hi everyone,
I'm trying to convert PAL 50i mov files to mpeg2 using Main Concept Reference 2.2.
The problem I'm having is that 99% of the time in the output file the audio is out of sync. I managed to get around this a couple of times using the audio delay filter but as the delay is always different it's not really convenient to do this. Also, sometimes when I play around with codecs I can't even open these mov files in the Main Concept Reference. I'm using Win7 64bit with the latest release of Shark007 codecs. This is the stream setting I need to achieve:

    Stream Settings:
    Total Bit Rate: 8000

    Video Encoding Settings:

    Program Stream
    MPEG2
    PID: 481
    Video Bit Rate: 7500
    Frame Rate: 25
    Horizontal Lines: 720
    Vertical Lines: 576
    Fields: Progressive
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 16x9
    Full First GOP: No
    I Frame Distance: 12
    Profile ID: Main
    Level ID: Main
    VBV Buffer Size: 224
    Audio Stream 1 Encoding Settings:
    PCM or AC-3 or MPEG1-Layer2: MPEG1-Layer2
    PID: 482
    Bit Rate: 256
    Sampling: 48000
    Number of channels: Stereo

Does anyone think this could be a codec problem? If someone could help me out a bit I would be most grateful! I'm not a complete noob at this, however I just can't get this done no matter what I do.

    Thank you in advance!

Source details? video and audio codec in the mov.

Have you tried any other converters to check if you get similar problems? Like the free hcenc with a gui or tmpgenc xpress, etc.

  3. Hi Baldrick, this is the info I got from MediaInfo, I haven't used any other converters except Xmedia Recode and it won't even load this file... I guess it has to be the codecs, but I just can't find a way how to set them....

looks like someone butchered a DVavi file. a width of 703 in not allowed and may not be accepted by any encoder. you need to get the original file.

  5. @ aedipuss - thanks for this... I didn't even notice this, however, the file played normally when I tried to play it so I'm not sure if this is the problem which is causing the delay... I will ask for a new file in any case..
On another note, do you have any suggestions on how to set up the codecs for this? and which pack should I use? I tried both K-lite and Shark007 codecs and didn't notice much difference... thank you in advance for your help and patience

  6. Ok, it turns out that the problem was with macdrive. The original files were on a HSF+ formatted external drive and were being currupted when copying to the NTFS formatted internal drive of a win7 machine. _Using Hsfexplorer to copy them over fixed the problem.

Thanks again guys for the help.
