I've got Windows 7 Ultimate, and am using an NVIDIA GeForce 9500GT.
My current movie player of choice is KMPlayer, and although it plays most MPEG-2 files well (all TS files play correctly), some stutter.
Some but not all MPEG-2 files (well, 6 actually) have choppy playback; most of them are fine. KMPlayer was what I used to test the files; same result for them on Windows Media Player.
Any IFO files play choppily; no picture issues except playback is jerky - the actual picture is fine. If I convert the IFO into MPEG-2 using mpeg2cut2... well, it plays flawlessly. Not always the best solution for me, though considering I'm trying to play these as DVD files.
The IFO files were a DVD film and one of a VHS tape copied via Pinnacle Instant DVD recorder.
VLC isn't that useful to me as an alternative; it sometimes freezes on my Windows OS, even in compatibility mode, so I stopped using it.
I installed ffdshow a few weeks back, but uninstalled it today, thinking that's the issue. Not sure though if this was the right thing...
How should I fix this? This is an area which I should try to solve; had a look around the 'net but am not sure where to go, so what would you recommend?
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

I've tried it; the file is still choppy. As for deinterlacing, no way to get "bob" on MPCHC?
Also, just out of interest, here's KMPlayer's Media Info on the file:
