Authored blu-ray will not play in PS3

I am fairly new to this, but I have read many tutorials online and I don't know what I am doing wrong.

I am using a LG BE12LU30 burner. Here is what I did.

- Authored a disc using TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 (PAL).

- Burnt the created folders to Verbatim 25GB BD-R LTH using IMGBURN (UDF 2.5)

- Plays on my laptop perfectly.

- On my PS3 the disc is recognized, but when I start playing I just get a blank screen.

- I then tried burning the folders to a BD-RE (Memorex) using IMGBURN but when attempting to format the disc it gets stuck at 84%

Is the problem because I am attempting to play a PAL disc on an NTSC PS3? I was under the impression that you could do that, but perhaps I am wrong.

Can anybody offer me some advice or point me in the right direction?

You can't play pal on a ntsc sony ps3,you will need to re-encode to ntsc,switch the project to ntsc on taw4 and welcome to the forums.

Do I need to convert my video first to NTSC or will TMPEGEnc convert it?

TMPEGEnc will convert it.
