Hello everyone!
I am studying in Moscow State University, Russia (sorry for crooked english), and now I have to start a project connected with video processing. Due to requirements it must contain interesting algorithms and must be needed to large group of people. So I'm asking you to help me decide what task to choose.
Now in detail:Task must be in video processing area.I will be glad to see any comments. If someone is intrested in development process - I'm ready to contact
It will be VirtualDub filter as a result and it will be free to download from here: http://compression.ru/video/
It's desirable for task to be connected with following: stereo, 3d, depth maps, object detection, object tracking.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Hello,
Do you really looking for a "job" programming video filter for common use?
So I can tell you my problem:
In my company we are developing products for measure the material of small fast moving objects (some cm³ size). We have a high speed camera for analyzing the movements of these objects. But it’s not easy to following the object in the video even if it is in slow motion.
What I’m looking for is a video tool to track one pointed object in the video.
The tool has to:
· Draw a tracking line in the video
· Export the coordinates of the track in a text file
· Select one point of the object to track (point where the tracking line is following)
· Overlay time stamps
· Change color of the tracking line by size of speed
· Calibrate the pixel in mm to calculate speed by selecting a ruler to a known size in the picture.
· Export speed graph in text file
· Draw a band of tracks of different object, imported from the text files
I like to do:
· visualize the way / track of the object
· visualize the band of tracks of many objects
· draw a speed graph of the object / bands of objects
I found your task by looking for a plugin for virtual dub who manage this.
About me:
I'm electronic engineer (studied years of years in past developing electronics, firmware and software.
Thank you for your interest

mwollny, sounds nice, is there strict time limits to the task?
themaster1, thanks for that, I'll ask there. -
No there is no timeline. But analyzing new problems at transporting the objects into our system we would be happy to have assistants of software.
I collected some articles to this subject. May be it helps you to appraise complexity of this tread.

Thanks for that links, they are really useful (even with my german ). I should discuss this task with my supervisor. There are some questions about commercial use.
