  1. I have been considering purchasing a new camcorder to capture sports video at 1080p60. Most cameras that can do that are +$1k. JVC has some new models to their Everio line that spec to 1080p60 and range from $400-$700. They are the GZ-HM650B, GZ-HM670B, and GZ-HM690B. The only difference between the three is their flash memory capacity: 16, 32, and 64GB respectively. Has anybody used these models yet? I need to know how they stack up to other units with 1080p60 capability. Does the on-board data compression kills the quality of the video? Thanks for any responses.

It seems nobody told JVC that the GZ-HM650B recorded 1080p60.

Smooth motion playback thanks to 1080/60i support

The AVCHD standard does not include 60P. What do the mean by "output"? Is this a deinterlace over HDMI?

  5. No idea, maybe the same way the Panasonic HDC-TM700 or Sony HDR-CX700v do it??? I can't afford either of their $1000+ prices.

Now, back to my original question, can anybody respond with first-hand knowledge about the video quality of any of the three JVC GZ-HM6_0Bs? Is it comparable to the other models mentioned above?

    Thanks,

The TM700 is AVCHD compatible for 1920x1080 60i but goes non-standard for 1920x1080 60p trading 2x frame updates for higher compression @ 28 Mb/s (somewhat bit rate starved IMO).

If the new cheap JVC line was 60p, it would be news but there is no news. The GZ-HM specs seem to purposely avoid mention of recording frame rates saying only AVCHD at classic 17 and 24 Mb/s data rates.

Best to wait for a review.
