Hi,
I tried to backup one movie to AVI, however it is a little bit complicated. First, I had to ask a friend to create a copy to HDD for me, because I was not able to backup it normal way. Ok, I got all the files, however, there is a problem with delay.
I am able to correctly play the separate VOB files using MPC HC, the same when loading the VIDEO_TS.IFO to MPC HC, but when loading to Avidemux, the audio is always shifted. I tried MediaInfo and found that each VOB file has different delay:
other one:Code:General Complete name : \VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB Format : MPEG-PS File size : 1 024 MiB Duration : 4mn 59s Overall bit rate : 28.7 Mbps Video ID : 224 (0xE0) Format : MPEG Video Format version : Version 2 Format profile : Main@Main Format settings, Matrix : Default Duration : 4mn 59s Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 27.3 Mbps Nominal bit rate : 9 800 Kbps Width : 720 pixels Height : 480 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16/9 Frame rate : 29.970 fps Standard : Component Colorimetry : 4:2:0 Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 2.638 Stream size : 976 MiB (95%) Audio ID : 129 (0x81) Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Format profile : Dolby Digital Duration : 4mn 59s Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 192 Kbps Channel(s) : 2 channels Channel positions : L R Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Video delay : 24ms Stream size : 6.85 MiB (1%) Menu Format : DVD-Video
As I already had similar problem with shifted audio stream, I tried PGCDemux, but the result was also not correct - I got audio file:Code:General Complete name : \VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_2.VOB Format : MPEG-PS File size : 1 024 MiB Duration : 35mn 38s Overall bit rate : 4 018 Kbps Video ID : 224 (0xE0) Format : MPEG Video Format version : Version 2 Format profile : Main@Main Format settings, Matrix : Default Duration : 35mn 38s Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 3 664 Kbps Nominal bit rate : 9 800 Kbps Width : 720 pixels Height : 480 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16/9 Frame rate : 29.970 fps Standard : Component Colorimetry : 4:2:0 Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.354 Stream size : 934 MiB (91%) Audio ID : 129 (0x81) Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Format profile : Dolby Digital Duration : 35mn 38s Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 192 Kbps Channel(s) : 2 channels Channel positions : L R Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Video delay : -447ms Stream size : 48.9 MiB (5%) Text #1 ID : 32 (0x20) Format : RLE Format/Info : Run-length encoding Text #2 ID : 35 (0x23) Format : RLE Format/Info : Run-length encoding Menu Format : DVD-Video
Which looks OK, as the movie according to MPC HC has duration 02:00:04 (exactly 02:00:04:29 according PGCDemux). But I am also not able to combine the audio with the video as Avidemux says it is NTSC with 29.970 fps, duration 01:36:09.369 - although the movie is complete. I tried some experiments with custom FPS settings but I am not able to set it exactly correct.Code:General Complete name : AudioFile_81.ac3 Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 File size : 165 MiB Duration : 2h 0mn Overall bit rate : 192 Kbps Audio Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Format profile : Dolby Digital Duration : 2h 0mn Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 192 Kbps Channel(s) : 2 channels Channel positions : L R Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Stream size : 165 MiB (100%)
any advices?
thanks

Since you don't know what you're doing, use AutoGK. Much easier. Either load the first VOB and the rest get loaded automatically, or if you need subtitles load the IFO.
But I am also not able to combine the audio with the video as Avidemux says it is NTSC with 29.970 fps, duration 01:36:09.369 - although the movie is complete.
I don't use AviDemux for these things, but there must be a way to load all the VOBs at once. If not, don't use it. Either that or join all the VOBs together using VOB2MPEG and then load the result into AVIDemux. No subtitles that way, though.
