    Hi all,
I've been very happy with DRM Buster's removal on some TV shows I downloaded from a certain place, however it doesn't seem to work on a film I downloaded from said online store.
The app seems to work up to around 8%, then gives an error which I can't read, as the app doesn't let me expand the message description column
Can the problem be that the WMV size is just over 2.5 Gigs to begin with, so DRM Buster sort of "gives out"? I tried the troubleshooting settings and the same occurred
I also attempted trial versions of 3 other DRM removal apps and had the same issue with each of them: I couldn't complete the install, as it attempted to install drivers (for what I don't know) and my CPU and RAM went sky high. I had to restart my computer each time
    Thanks all

UPDATE: A newer version of the app errors, but brings up a window so I can at least get a description of the issue. I'm obviously about to restart my computer. Other than that, does anyone know what I should try?
    Thanks again.

Quick update... I tried Soundtaxi and it gives me the same problem. I suppose it should be expected though, seeing as how it seems virtually identical to DRM buster.
    Any advice?

I thought the courteous thing to do is give you all an update on my situation. I finally found an app that works great, so this is no longer a problem for me. Thanks all.

    Yes, Please, do tell

I have never had the issue of needing to use such a tool, but it is always nice to know just in case i come upon such a situation.

Sorry. It's Aimersoft's Video Converter. Be careful of what encoding choices you make though. I went with their default settings which ended up looking great. Then, just for the heck of it, I chose to use XviD and it looked TERRIBLE; very large block of pixels. I'm not sure why it looked that bad, since XviD usually gives me great results. Suffice it to say, I went back to the default settings, lol.

  8. So it didn't just remove the DRM? Did it capture from the screen or just convert the file?

It did more than just remove the DRM. It also converted to an AVI, however I'm not sure what you mean by "capture from the screen" rather than "just convert"...?

A program that captures from the screen starts up a media player (not necessarily in a different window) then captures and compresses frames as they appear on the screen. The media player is simply playing the DRM protected file and isn't aware that the program is capturing it. This is usually obvious because a 2 hour movie takes 2 hours to convert and usually you see the video playing. A program that strips away DRM and reencodes may be much faster or slower depending on the codecs used and doesn't have to display the movie while it's converting. A program that simply strips away DRM would usually only take a few minutes to do so with a 2 hour movie.

Okay. Then yes, it captures from the screen. It displays the video while converting it and it takes as long to convert as to watch.
