  1. Check this device out:

    http://www.archos.com/us/products/product_jbmm_vm.html

It's yet to be launched but will be available in my country next week. Was hoping to hear if any of you have tested it. I'm particularly intersted if the 352X288 capture can make decent VCDs.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Actually it essentially is a mobile harddisk w USB 1 connection (default), and options for USB 2 and IEEE 1394. Wanted one essentially for recording MP3s from microphone sources but later found this version with options for SM/CF media transfers (for digicams) and now... MPEG4 VIDEO CAPTURE!

The real attraction of this device is portability and the video capture means I could use it with old analogue cameras. And a 10GB HDD of MPEG4 videos at 352X288 translates to nearly a hundred (?) hours of video. Only thing holding me back is the untested quality of the video capture. Many reviews gave an older version (the Archos Jukebox recorder) tops for MP3 recording and playback quality.

But video.... I'm still waiting for reviews...
