MakeMKV problems

I am trying to make an mkv out of 'Rammstein - Live Aus Berlin' DVD

I tried simply using makemkv
I tried ripping files to hdd with anydvd then converting with makemkv
I tried ripping files to hdd with anydvd, re-authoring the main show with dvd shrink then converting with makemkv

All three methods leave me with nothing but a green screen if I play back with Media Player Classic. If I playback with Windows Media Player I get sound but just garbage for video.
The ripped video_ts folder will play fine so the source files are good.

Just can't get MakeMKV to do this one....any thoughts?

BTW: I have anydvd disabled when I am running the program... MakeMKV bitches about this program sometimes if it is enabled which I don't understand....

I am also starting to notice some of the videos can have 'jerky... or stuttering' video. Not horribly bad but noticeable and therefore unacceptable.
I just ripped another concert and played the original dvd and the ripped mkv file simultaneously on 2 side by side monitors an it is definitely there.

What could be causing these problems?

Sounds odd, try converting the dvd to iso (without shrinking it) and then try converting to mkv using handbrake. Something appears to be lost. Whereas MakeMKV is frequently being updated, it sometimes misses something.

Wish I had a good answer to that beyond saying: "it's still beta".

I just tried the current version a couple days ago and had sync problems. This was with an AVCHD previously re-encoded with BDRB. (The same AVCHD repackaged to MKV just fine with HDConvertToX). Several months ago when I tried a previous version on an original Blu-ray, the subs were screwed up.

Lots of folks use this and say it works fine. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I think it's plain that, at the very least, some discs are problematic for MakeMKV.

Do either of these make the mkv without re-encoding. I just want a straight lossless transfer.

In HDConvertToX, you just set it to *not* crop and resize, video output to x264 in MKV and copy video (assuming the original video is h264), then under audio, copy audio. Include subs if you want (it will find them after the initial analysis of the disc), and chapter timings. You can set a subtitle stream to default on if you want, or off, selectable either way. Don't hardcode them if you want to avoid re-encoding.

That's pretty much it. I find this way to be easiest for me, and don't know why so few others have tried HDConvertToX.

Anyway, I presume you can do something much the same with HandBrake, they're similar programs and use pretty much the same toolkit. I just think HDC is more straightforward.

Solve my issue. Not makemkv related.

In MPC settings
Playback>>>Output
Under 'DirectShow Video' .... EVR Custom Pres. was selected.
I simply changed that to 'Haali Renderer'

All problems solved.
