  1. I tried playing an .mkv file on a new SONY 3DTV, but there was no sound coming out. Does that mean that the TV cant handle the DTS format?

So what my best bet? Should i convert it to ac3 ow could it possibly not handle that as well?

I guess for the moment that should be my best bet, so how can i encode DTS to ac3 2.0 succesfully?

    XviD4PSP can do it easily

demux the ac3 audio from the mkv file with mkvcleaver

open Xvid4PSP and click on "open"

choose the ac3 you just demuxed

bottom left of the app you'll see "audio encoding"..i normally choose ac3 192k

next...go to the top of the app and you'll see "Audio" then editing options. In there you can keep the 6 channel or downmix to stereo

click the "encode" button on the far right of the app..then save it to the folder or place u want

use mkvtoolnix to mux the new ac3 file you just created...done

  3. The original audio is DTS not ac3. AC3 is what i want it to result in the end...

  5. Ok thanx man, i will definitely try it.

Just wondered though what the encoding parameters are for such a conversion since it's not one of the traditional ones.

I mean do i get different results with different procedures, when encoding from DTS to AC# is what mainly i wanna know.

it all depends on what you want. The great thing about this little app is that it gives a myriad of options but are really simple to choose from...layman's understanding etc...just have to tinker to see what you like
