  1. If I'm playing an .mkv file in KMplayer, the said player has its own "engine" when processing subtitles. While this 'feature' has good points, it has its own bad points too.

    For someone like me who torrents anime subbed vids like crazy, anime subbers tend to sub not only what the characters are saying, but they also put subs on signboards like "cafeteria" for example. they also put a "sub" on katakana and the like. If played on KMplayer, the whole thing is a disaster. Another problem is when switching between full screen and normal screen, the font size isn't resizing itself, causing the sub to go off the screen.

    It's a good question and unfortunately I have no practical experience to share with you. We're not exactly an anime hotbed here. I did some quick research and some people who play MKV animes like the free GOM Player. I have no idea if it will solve your problem or not. I did see some complaints about VLC so probably that will not be a good choice.
