Hi, so, I have a sony DAV-S500 home theater that can't play any authored dvd... I have tried TMPGEnc, ConvertXto DVD 3, D2MP, and can't work...

Interesting facts: If I author it in NTSC on those 3 programs it appears, Insert DISC or DIRTY DISC... it can't even read...
If I do it in PAL it appears, Can't play because of region.... (My tv, and other disc are NTSC)

I've tried DVD Santa in NTSC and it worked, but the movie doesnt work well... It crashes... all the time...

    I don't know what happen....

It's kind of old... but not thaaat old... It's from 2001...

Is there anything I can do? Is there a kind of codec that works better? Another program...

    Thanks

What brand (Sony, TDK, Verbatim, etc.) of discs are you using? What type (DVD+R, DVD-RW, etc.) of disc are you using?

Old DVD players may be very fussy about RW and DL discs and may even prefer +R over -R or -R over +R. I would recommend either Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden single layer discs to have the best chance of success.

I'm using HP DVD-R and also tried with MAXPRINT DVD-RW, that I succeded with dvd santa... that's the weird thing, I can watch the ones I've authored with dvd santa, but not with other programs... Is that something related to the codec, something like that?

HP and Maxprint are bad quality discs so I cannot rule out the possibility that you are simply using bad discs. Try one of your HP discs on a PC and see if plays or not. PCs are more tolerant of poor disc quality. We need to find out if the disc was made correctly first and if it will play.

Oh, yes... I tried... And another thing: If I download iso file and burn them even on the HP disk or maxprint one, they work perfectly...

So, the problem is when I create the DVD files...

Does it play on a PC or not?

If not, then something is wrong with your DVD creation process when you use those other programs. Maybe you are accidentally burning a DVD in data disc format instead of DVD format. What are you burning with? You should use ImgBurn. It's free.

Yes... it does work on pc...

    It works perfectly...

I use nero 7, I tried nero 7, windows img burner, santa's own burning tool, convertxtodvd burning tool, aswell...

I burns correctly... I think that the problem is with the encode of the dvd, something like that, because the home theater works preatty well with iso file that i download... and other bought dvds.... It just doesnt work with the dvds I'm trying to create with avi files....

I need to know... WHY? hehe

    Thanks for the help man...

Use ImgBurn on a DVD+RW or DVD-RW disc. See if the disc plays on a PC when you make it with something other than DVDSanta, but burn with ImgBurn. If it plays, then your burning software was the problem. If it doesn't play, then you are not making the DVD correctly with those other programs. It costs you nothing to try ImgBurn on a RW disc and it will either fix your problem or let you know that the burning software is not the problem.

Both the disc quality or the burning method are ok... Because the DVD does work on PC... Burning with or without the santa program...
What happen is that it doesnt work on my dvd...

What I want to know is if there is a kind of encoder or codec or something like this that can be more compartible with old dvd players, or something like that... Because if I download a shop dvd, like an iso file, it works perfectly on my pc AND DVD player... using the same dvd-rw and the same burning method....

    So, What happens?
