  1. Great, another BMIP help me thread! For reference I am on Windows 7 64-bit.

I received the card yesterday, and most everything is working as it should. I am primarily using it to capture from an Xbox 360 through HDMI. Capturing works perfectly fine through Media Express.

My first snag was that I was not getting any signal when using the HDMI out from the card using an HDMI -> DVI cable (my monitor has no HDMI connection). After some research I found that the Xbox 360's RGB signal is not supported if you use a HDMI -> DVI connection, so a normal HDMI connection is required. This is correct, yes? I was thinking about upgrading my monitor anyway, so no worries really. I should be able to monitor the output with a standard HDMI -> HDMI connection, yes?

But until I get a new monitor, I'd like to start capturing gameplay. The problem is, there is some slight but significant input lag when viewing via Media Express, so it isn't really practical for me to play that way.

I figured I could use the HDMI input, then output using the breakout cable to an SDTV, but none of the connections seem to work. First I tried component out, with output on 'HDMI & Component' and input on 'HDMI Video & HDMI Audio', and output post processing set to 'HD to SD Letterbox'. No signal. Sometimes I'd get some flickering or lots of black and white static. Tried the same thing with Composite output, using those same settings but with video output on 'HDMI & Composite (Y Out) & S-Video', no dice.

I even tried hooking the 360 input via Composite as well, with the appropriate settings. Media Express could still capture just fine, but there was no output to the TV. Is there something I'm missing?

    Dandy,
Look at the settings under/in the Black Magic Control Panel icon in Control Panel (or the equivalent in Win 7). I'm currently not running Win 7 on my machine at the moment to check. The input settings there must match the ones selected in the Media Express/Edit/Preferences. The Black Magic Control Panil is also where the output settings are set. As an aside to hear the audio on your PC you will need to feed back the audio output in the Dongle to your on board audio input (line input, aux, or CD input will work i.e. a high level input) or to your sound card. Hope this helps.
