I downloaded Aften to encode a AAC file to AC3 so I could burn it to a DVD. However, the sound was distorted during playback from my DVD. The sound is fine when played on my computer, however. Am I doing something wrong? I set the quality to 240 (-q 240). The AAC file has six channels, by the way.
This is what VLC says about the AC3 file:
Code:Type: Audio Codec: A52 Audio (aka AC3) (a52) Channels: 3F2R/LFE Sample Rate: 48000 Hz Bitrate: 640 kb/s

640 kb/s AC3 is not compliant for DVD (although some DVD players might be able to play it)
You should specify CBR bitrate e.g. -b 448
