    Hi,

    I managed to convert an unprotected MPEG2 DVD (720x405) (1.2 GB) to a MKV 720x400 (200 MB) using Handbrake.

    Now I need to convert the MKV to SWF, to host the SWF in intranet portal.

    I tried some shareware/trialware and I set parameters as 720x400 for SWF. But after conversion, I opened the SWF in IE/Firefox the video plays in a small area and not in 720x400 resolution as configured. The converted SWF says the resolution is 720x400 but when played in a browser the video is played in a small area and not in 720x400.

    Please suggest me some freeware/open-source tools that can compress the video to a decent size SWF and maintain the resolution of the converted file while played in IE/Firefox ?

    Thanks and Regards
    Rafales

    What do you convert with?

    Or convert directly to mp4(h264 video and aac audio) using handbrake instead and use it with flash player like flowplayer.

    Thanks for the reply.

    I used Xilisoft and Joboshare tools to convert MKV to SWF. the converted SWF when played in the browser, the display resolution was shrinked to a small box rather than the 720x400.

    I can't convert to MP4 or other formats. Since the requirement is to convert to SWF, which can be played in any browser.

    Try freemake video converter. It can output swf.

    BUT swf=flash and so is mp4 with a flash player...even though it wont work with older flash.

    If you are using the <object> tag in html, you can set the size parameters for width and height...

    <div class="content-pagetitle">
    &nbsp;<object classid=
    "clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase=
    "http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"
    width="310" height="167" id="your_filename.swf" align="">
    <param name="movie" value="your_filename.swf" />
    <param name="quality" value="high" />
    <param name="bgcolor" value="#333399" />
    <embed src="your_filename.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#333399"
    width="310" height="167" name="stihl.swf" align="" type=
    "application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage=
    "http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />
    </object>
    It's not important the problem be solved, only that the blame for the mistake is assigned correctly
