    Hi,
Got the computer working again till today, powered up computer, same thing again. Goes to safe mode/start windows normal screen. Will not let me go into safe mode, this is the type of list displayed.

    mulit(0)disk(0)partition(1)\windows\system32\drive rs\PCIIDEX.sys

    Displays around 20 .sys files.

I tap F8 key, goes into select boot drive.

I restarted with xp disk, freezes up on windows is setting up screen.

    Motherboard is Asus M2N68

Got it working yesterday, after hitting restart button 25+ times, finally let me go into safe mode.

    Thanks for any assistance.

Okay, this is really crazy !!! Once it goes into safe mode screen, I select safe mode, get alot of .sys file files, wait approx 10-15 minutes, computer goes into safe mode, I select shut off computer. Turn computer on (power button), computer reboots normally into windows.

Can power supply cause this problem ?

What is causing this ? I'll just keep computer on standby, till I find solution. So, I don't keep posting new threads.

What are .sys files, so I can go in and repair, whatever is causing problem.

How do I create an emergency boot up disk ?

    Thanks

that sounds like a hardware issue. Unplug any usb device and reboot if u can. Also, from reading on google, common issue, it may have to do with a hardware issue in terms of PCI slots. Like a card reader or Any type of PCI-E card you might be uisng. Maybe video card also

    Hi,
I thought the same thing, till just recently. I have two systems connected to 2 seperate power outlets, same room.

Both computers powered off, while the power stayed on in the rest of the room, ceiling lights, fan, printer, speakers, etc.... all stayed on, only computers powered off. Very strange.

Only new hardware I installed in last 2 years was a new video card, approx 2 months ago and a 1tb WD hdd yesterday.

I'm having some type of power issue. Oulet power surge, causing computer malfunctions.

Okay, think I have found the problem. The other day, I downloaded a program called speedfan. Seems file giveio.sys, causes computer instability. Read many others, was having rebooting issues, with giveio.sys file. I just uninstalled speedfan. So, hopefully this corrects the rebooting issue

Yup ! Speedfan .sys file caused the rebooting issue. Now, computer is rebooting normally into windows. Happy, I have my computer back.

Hopefully this info will help others, that install speedfan or similar programs. Thanks Moontrash, for trying to help.
