I know there's been a lot of work for individual fixes to SVCD2DVD since the last official release back in Jan 2009.
Is a new release planned to incorporate them?
Thanks

To be honest I can't see in this day and age why you would need such a program. I haven't used SVCDs for about 3 years eversince I bought a media player that will play anything..

But by it's name it implies that you have to convert them to SVCD before you burn them to DVD. Surely if you want them to play on a DVD player you would go directly to DVD format or archive the AVIs to DVD. DVD media is real cheap these days.. It's a bit like people creating VCDs to archive all their AVIs then using something like VCD2DVD..
To my way of thinking using SVCD these days is a bit like buying a Blu-ray player and a HD TV and connecting them together via a composite AV connector..Last edited by paulw; 9th Apr 2011 at 16:30.

The SVCD in its name is misleading. It can convert HDTV (TS), MPEG, AVI, DivX, Xvid, MP4, MKV, h264, x264 to DVD. It will convert PAL to NTSC and supports AC3 5.1 and AAC. Plus you can create DVD's with or without menus. Much more then VCD or SVCD, and no it does not downconvert to MPEG1.

Each to their own, however I absolutely love SVCD2DVD!! I've been using it for quite a few years, in fact so long, I actually can't remember, but going by the email address I used to register - it was definitely many years ago.
Not everybody is IT savvy enough to connect their TVs to PCs, network XBMC etc or media players (not me, of course, but people I know ). Many people still have a basic setup of a Television connected to a DVD Player - heck I even know people who don't have computers in their houses at all!! I even have a cousin who bought a new PC last year - it is not connected to the internet, she only uses it for playing Hidden Object Games! (Yes, Yes, I do live in the bush!)
My point being, that there is very definitely still a need for software such as this.
When I first started encoded movies and TV shows, I tried every program that was available!! Every now and again, since using SVCD2DVD, I have tried other new programs, but honestly, none compare to the simplicity of use and quality result that SVCD2DVD gives!!
SVCD2DVD tramples all over other "one click" programs when it comes to keeping the audio in sync. When it comes to putting several tv shows together on one DVD, with a menu, you cannot beat SVCD2DVD. It makes the whole process just so easy. Another advantage is how great it does the job of joining to avi files together seamlessly!!
There certainly may be better software out there, but I can guarantee you it will be far more expensive and certainly more difficult to use.
I highly recommend it!! Apart from having to reinstall it on the odd occasion (after installing service packs etc), I've used it continuously with Windows XP, Vista and 7 on two computers and am more than happy with the results it gives!!Last edited by ritekgirl; 12th Apr 2011 at 22:23. A program can reach a point in its evolution that all the bugs that can be fixed are fixed and all the features that can be enabled without a complete rewrite are enabled. I still have SVCD2DVD installed but I can understand why the author has moved on. I don't expect to see a version 3. But I've been surprised before. I'm just guessing.
