Depending upon how rare/obscure/proprietary the SCV format is, you may be limited to whatever converter was included with your player, or downloadable from the manufacturer's website - and there's no guarantee it'll support FLV, WMV or a large variety of other video containers as input.

As Baldrick asked, what player is it?

If you have an .scv video that works on the player handy, run it through MediaInfo (in Tree View), copy the information it gives you, and post it here. It could simply be a standard video format (easily converted-to) with a renamed extension.

I suggest you use that device for music playback only.

If you really want to watch videos "anywhere you go",
you'd better get an ACTUAL portable video player,
which is not limited to obscure formats like this one:

Now I've tried and can amv, but the resolution is small. Don't cover the entire displey, resolution is 320x240 and AMV is max 208 x 176...

I used it for a car

    So it supports AMV files?

Hmmm, so it's not that bad, after all.

Anyway, I've downloaded the damn Kung-Fu-Panda.scv,
    and...

    1) ffmpeg doesn't support it

    Code:
Invalid data found when processing input
    2) XVI32 shows:

    first 4 bytes = S C V 1

    several null-bytes later,

    V3000, 320x240,550Kbps,FPS20

    3) you might ask Kostya to take a look at the SCV files,

    Code:
    http://codecs.multimedia.cx/
probably he would like to reverse-engineer the format,
next time he gets too bored

    Hi
Is there any updates about the playable formats on the player you were talking about?
I got the same and I converted to AMV, but it is really small picture... Do you have any idea how to make it bigger? Which converter did you use for converting it 208x176, because my converter looks like is converting for 1 inch screen...
    Thanks!

  9. Hi guys ,

I know this topic is a few months old but it was never fully resolved and I wanted to add what I've found on my own search of this same problem and maybe it can help others too.

As has been mentioned here this player does play AMV files just fine so far... but finding a converter that has the full screen setting is kind of hard.

But I did find an awesome tutorial on another site that lets you 'alter' one of these converters so that it can make video files be the full screen resoluton of 320x240

All the info you need is at this link http://mympx.org/forum/support-how/40100-shut-up-those-ipod-gits.html I didn't want to take away from the original poster as this was their idea so thought it more fair to redirect to their original post.

The tutorial is actually one that tells you how to adjust the frame rate for a more non jittery picture.. which I suggest adding as well as it does make a difference, but if you read full to the end the author explains how it can also be utilized to add an option to save files in larger resolutions.. including 320x240

The site "My MPX . org" has a link for downloading the converter the author mentions as well.

This worked perfectly for me and resolved my video issues with this player and hope it helps anyone else who lands here as well.

    Thanks
