    Hi,

I was looking for a way to save a video with ffdshow post processing decoding enabled, meaning you could play it back in any compatible player using or not using ffdshow(post processing filter off) and the output is just as if you had ffdshow post processing enabled! I use the screen recorder below for this. This seems to be the only way to save the decoding from filter, if you use the ffdshow encoder with the post processing filter enabled it doesn't seem to work and also it doesn't seem to work if you use virtualdub/direct show driver plugin as it doesn't seem to pass the deblocking to video. Oh yeah at least for fast spp deblocking that is the case but that seems to be the best deblocker with in ffdshow post processing filter.

It works great. You have to install the program, not use the unpackaged version for this to work i believe.

  2. It works for me in VirtualDub with the DirectShow input driver:

Virtualdub + DirectShow source filter + ffdshow (xvid avi)
    no post/fast spp

Are you sure ffdshow is being used to decode your video? Maybe another decoder has a higher priority. Do you see the ffdshow icon in the Tray?

Yes, ffdshow was being used to decode video and i see the icon yes but the final output was the same as the original. What did you use to encode the video?

  4. I encoded with Xvid. I made a very blocky video just for the test.

  6. What encoder you use shouldn't make any difference.

We discussed this already 3 months ago in your other thread:
    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/330187-ffvdub-or-ffdshow-encoder-image-processing-d...ith-VirtualDub

The postprocessing options apply to the DEcoder stage and the encoder options (or even which encoder is used) are irrelevant.

When using the VDub DS plugin, if ffdshow is doing the decoding and the postprocessing has been applied (which can be checked visually by playback), it MUST be passed on to the encoder, as there is no separate processing path that can magically switch it off. Perhaps what is happening is that you are encoding at too low a bitrate, so blocks are reintroduced by the encoder, giving the impression that they were not removed. IOW, the blocks you see in your new encoding are not the original ones, but new ones.
