I have a class 4 sdhc card for my Canon Rebel T2i, but the video seems like it could be better. Should I get a class 6 or Class 10 card?

Using a too slow SDHC card will usually result in dropouts or corrupted video. But wouldn't make much if any difference in quality, just capture and transfer speed. With a still camera, a faster card helps the camera cycle faster to be ready for the next shot.

But I would use at least a class six card with video. Class 10 probably would be overkill and just cost a lot more, unless your camera specifically says it will work.

BTW, the class is supposed to be the sustained transfer rate in MB/s. Class 6 = 6MB/s. But those ratings are from the manufacturer, so may not be accurate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital

you would be lucky if u got a class 10 and it actually got the 10mb they say it does...most don't get near it. i would just go with a 6mb. A lot have tried the 10's and some just aren't up to snuff

    Further,

Class 10 probably won't help a Canon Rebel T2i much but if you had one of those 1920x1080 60p Panasonics it would be a near requirement. Ignore the "Class 6 = 6MB/s" spec. That is for bursts not minutes of sustained data transfer. Also figure in that file fragmentation and wear cycles slow transfer rates.

For a t2i, it is recommended you use a class 6 minimum. I have a t2i and have used both class 6 and class 10 cards. My t2i is hacked via Magic Lantern firmware that allows me to set encoding bitrates. So far, I have yet to see any advantage to using a class 10 card over a class 6 card.

My camera is capable of encoding up to 120 Mb/s which will far exceed any class speed currently available.............

    Which camera is that?

The pro cams use parallel SD flash architecture to get to sustained 35-100 Mb/s.

I have the Canon t2i. I also hacked it via Magic Lantern firmware. The stock bitrate is around 47 Mb/s. Magic Lantern allows in camera encoding rates from 6 Mb/s - 120 Mb/s. There is no card currently available that can sustain full 120 Mb/s for more than a few seconds at a time.
