  1. Is there any way to set the subtitles to not display automatically?

  2. In my RSS feed, AVS to DVD is mentioned and I don't really have handle on that, (I'm really quite the newbee here) but once I've got DVD, I would use DVD Shrink to re-author the DVD and only accept the language and subtitles that I wanted. It also works for finding the PGC you really want.

It depend on the subtitle type. Sometimes they are burned right into the video, those you cannot remove, or it is not a simple task.
If they are part of a subtitle stream than you can use PgcEdit. If they are forced type, you can remove forced flag, if they are set by command, you change command in a pre command section of a title.

  4. I'm talking about soft-encoded subtitles. Just wondering if there was any way to do it within AVStoDVD, instead of having to use another tool.

  5. If you have a seperate srt just add it along with the video and audio and avstodvd will create softsubs, if you want hardsubs you have to go edit title > subtitles and tick hardcoded. If your asking if you can remove hardsubs the answers no there are subtitle removers but they take alot of tweaking and the results aren't worth the time.

  6. No no no. I know how to add softsubs and I know how to hard encode them. What I'm asking is, is there any way to set the subtitle preference of softsubs (as in whether it's displayed automatically when played back as a DVD) within AVStoDVD. I ask this because I remember DVD Flick offered that option.

  7. ok mate, to make them automatically appear you can try in edit title before you encode go to audio and make sure it's english or whatever and that the subtitle matches, and to make it appear only when you select make sure the language tags don't match so either leave one underfined and one english. hope it works for you.
