  1. I did search around and I could not locate this answer anywhere. I am not sure what I am doing wrong...

    Ok, so I have an H264 .mkv file that I loaded into MKVtools. It shows two tracks;

    Video #1: (h264)
    Audio #1: (dts 6ch.), Language: English

    I click on the "MP4" tab, I leave the video on Pass Thru at 23.976 fps (source file fps), Audio on Pass Thru.

    I click convert and MKVtools performs the conversion.

    Here is my problem, I am getting two files a .h264 file and a .dts file??? Why am I not getting a .MP4 file?

    I have tried doing the conversion with the "Quick" setting also and I get an .h264 file and a .AAC file (or .AC3 can't remember).

    Can anyone please tell me how to get a .MP4 file out of this so that I can transfer for playback on my tivo?

    Thank you so much!

  3. Thank you Baldrick,

    I have already read this extensively and it still does not answer my question as to why I am getting two files output instead of a single .mp4 file.

    I am wondering if I need to join these files with another prog, however that just seems a bit silly. Why would a program desinged for conversion requiree another to join ouput files?

    Is this just the way mkvtools works?

    Can anyone recommend a program that can convert mkv to mp4 if this is the case with mkvtools?

  5. ok, so MKVtools is operating properly, it is pulling out the video and audio files from the .mkv file for me to then merge into a .mp4 file. Problem is this is a lengthy process and I have yet to find a good app to join the files quickly.

    mkvWatch = problem solved. Converted a 4gb .mkv to .m4v in roughly 20mins.
    If you want to add subs its a bit more time consuming so I will only do this for my films that have foreign language requiring subs. There is a program called "Submerge" that does this pretty nicely.

    I'm doing a conversion with handbrake now as well with added sub file, will see how it goes.
