This may seem like a silly question, but does anyone know how to get rid of the little arrow in the lower left corner of the icons on the desktop. It was possible with XP, but I have not been able to find a way with 7.

Disable the shortcut arrows? You would have to make a registry change to do that. But you might try this site. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-shortcut-icon-arrow-overlay-in-windows-vista/
Note that there is a separate program for W7/Vista 64bit OSs. If you do decide to do this manually via the registry, make sure to back up the registry first as changes there can damage the OS.

Thanks...downloaded Tweak & that did work. I remember now that I did use Tweak when I had XP & that was how I got rid of the arrows.

  4. A good site to ask silly questions about Windows 7 (or XP, or Vista, etc.) is http://www.annoyances.org/

There are several threads there concerning the arrow on Windows 7 shortcut icons, for example.
