I am just wondering if there are any utilities out there that will help speed-up video processing at all? I used something for XP that is similiar to Vista's Ready Boost, and the results aren't really great. I am looking for something else, that would give me even a little bit of speed improvement when converting a video to another format Anything someone could recommend that would help? I'd appreciate any feedback.

  3. AFAIK the bottleneck of video encoding is the processor itself.
The best you could do is to end processes that takes up resources from the processor or upgrade the processor itself.

    Matey...

try using GPU processing - this uses the video card to offload some of the video crunching tasks....

depending on which video card you have - try mediacoder CUDA or freemake if you have a CUDA capable Nvidia card.

Avivo is a similar thing for AMD video cards and is part of the catalyst driver set - you have to download the add-on.

i have both of these and get a fairly substantial speed increase out of conversions with two very modest GPU's.

    cheers,
