I am trying to get the Sound Effects only channel & not the music & voices from a trailer on Apple.com that is 1080p & has 6 channel AAC. Is there any way to do it ? I am trying to get the sound effects only from the very first trailer to Fast Five. The 1080p has 5.1

Try the audio editor Audacity with the FFmpeg plugin. It may allow you to save the channel you want,
or perhaps save the file as six individual waves.

There is no such things as a sound effects track unless specifically mixed for something like a DVD etxra. It is true that the bulk of dialogue is usually pushed toward the centre channel, but even then this does not mean that taking the centre channel will get you a naked dialogue track, as other effects will bve mixed into the centre, and some dialogue will be in the surrounds only. You can pretty much guarantee that effects will be recorded across all of the channels, as this is how the 5.1 mix is down. Want something to the left and behind the viewer, put it mostly in the left rear channel. Want it to the right and in front, put it in the front right channel. Want it to move around the viewer ? Put it in multiple channels at varying volume levels to foool the viewers brain into thinking it is actually moving. In short - an effects channel is a myth.

I am looking for a specific scene for a The Fast & The Furious montage I want to do & the scene in question in the trailer has no dialogue & the music in said scene is mostly faint so with the 5.1 I should be able to get something decent out of it
