  1. I found some old videos that I'd like to transfer to my laptop but video only transfers from Firewire. I do not have a firewire input on my laptop. The cam has 2 outputs, 1 firewire, and one smaller one (forgot the name.) The smaller one is the same as the PS3 controller charger cable. So I plugged it into my USB port of my laptop but it won't connect. I tried installing the driver for the camera but it won't recognize the camera either. Pinnacle studio won't either.

    This is my camera:

I have a HDMI input on my laptop also.

    What can I do?

you sure it's the correct cable? you might want to find the panasonic one. there is an update for the software on panny's site.

if still no joy you'll need to borrow a computer with firewire, or send the tapes out for transfer.

  3. About the cable, I do not have the original cable. I used the PS3 controller cable:

Software, yes, I was installing that one. I got this:

I followed the steps but it's not recognizing the camera.

miniDV over usb was iffy at best. the cam is set as the software asks? try pressing play before plugging the usb from the cam into the computer.

  5. I fixed it by trying it on a 32 bit PC.

    Problem solved.
