    Hi All,

When using Blaze Media Pro to convert a file captured with ATI All In Wonder Card from its' .MP2 format to .AVI, I get a great conversion, BUT I get a gradual sync problem which seems to start after approximately 2 minutes during playback.

How do I solve the sync problem with Blaze Media Pro, or is there another way I can convert the ATI All In Wonder .MP2 captured video format?

    OS: Windows XP
    Hardware: 2Mhz PC w/512Meg Ram.

Thanks in advance for your help!

  2. um, why?!?!?!

why r u trying to convert an audio file to a video file?!?!?!?!?!

    mp2= audio
    avi= video

U know tmpgenc can encode mp2 files right?

if u need to convert it, convert it to wav, not avi.
Open tmpgenc, import ur mp2 for the audio source, then go to file then output file, select wav.

The .MP2 file is actually an Mpeg2 file. I've tried using TMGENC to re-encode the file so that I can burn it as a DVD, I always get the error message saying that it is an invalid file option.

So, my plan was to convert the file to an .AVI, and then use TMGENC to encode the file to a mpeg2 file.

The AVI file looks great, it is just that the audio goes out of sync a few minutes after playback. If I can re-sync the video & audio I think I'll be okay.

  4. Hey Nutty -

I've been working on the same thing myself. I've found that if you change your extension from .mp2 (mpeg2 -NOT- MPEG Audio Layer 2 - dunno why ATI chose that extension :\ ) into .mpg, then you can work with it in tmpgenc.

As far as your audio sync problem goes - make sure you are capturing at 29.97 fps instead of 30. That's where you will start to run into problems.

  5. dude, u make no sense-
I've found that if you change your extension from .mp2 (mpeg2 -NOT- MPEG Audio Layer 2 - dunno why ATI chose that extension :\ ) into .mpg, then you can work with it in tmpgenc

MPEG-2 extension file is ALWAYS mpg, mp2 is ALWAYS an audio file

Let me tell u the history-
    system vid- mpg
    vid- m2v
    system audio- mpg
    aud- mp2
    system aud+vid- mpg

This above is true for vcd\svcd.

If u insist that the mp2 is an mpeg2 file, then the only way that can be true, is if the mp2 has an mpeg2 strea, BUT it is still ONLY an audio file.

U say u try and burn it and its an illegal operation, well thats simple logic-

NERO only accepts MPGs WITH video AND audio stream in the mpg!!

If u are trying to make a 98 track svcd, reread whatever guide u are reading.

  6. Just want to clarify -

When capturing into an MPEG2 stream from an ATI AIW card, using ATI's TV software - the resulting file has an .mp2 extension. This is for a stream with both audio and video. This is not my fault but ATI's. You just have to change the file extension to .mpg in order to use the file with any other piece of software other than ATI's. I am well aware of what the video/audio extensions are, and am not pleased that ATI did this, but c'est la vie.

Appearently nutty and I are the only ones with ATI software that does this...

And Nutty - if changing the file extension DOESN'T work, just demux the audio and video, and then it should work. At least that has been my experience.

    Thanks Binkyaut for the info.

The captures you get with ATI cards are nice, but whatever codecs they use forces me to split my captures into files (which makes me use 2 DVD+RW discs).

I knew about changing the file extenstion from .mp2 to mpg, but I didn't know that the file should be "demux". I think I can do that in TMPGENC(?)

I'll give it a try, and I'll also check my settings to validate that I'm capturing at 29.97 fps.

Whew, and I thought this would a simple process!

Thanks again for all of your help!!
