Resampling for online streaming.

Hello i was wondering if it would be a good idea to resample to 48hz instead of 44 for youtube?. say you ripped music from a cd which was at 44hz, you then rip it at the same sample rate as the cd and then you use for example windows movie maker which allows you to create an hd video and of coarse it encodes it at 48hz instead of keeping it at 44.

So im wondering will there be any degradation to the audio quality once you put it on youtube as opposed to making a video where the audio is at 44 hz? then uploading it to the website. I realise there might be some degradation otherwise, but what about for youtube? Thanks.

I sometimes think Youtube invented degradation.

You're using WMM? Your whole workflow is already degrading everything.

Yeah i use the 1080p option for the wmv (movie maker), anything less than that i don't touch, do you know any better ones that will automatically resizes everything for you so the 720p and 1080p options are enabled on the youtube player?, ill gladly switch if so since the kbps (audio wise) is extremely low even for 1080 option lol. (the uploading is mostly for audio only, with a "still" picture).

I realise wmm does avi with gives over 1000 kbps (i use wav so this option would be nice), but yeah it's not feasable since its like a 600-700mb (and unfortunately doesn't enable the 1080p option on the youtube player) in size for a 3 min video with only still pictures and the rest is audio, but wmm's hd option only gives it a measly 190kbps which is too low, around 300kbps would be good enough though, it doesn't need to match the wav's kbps.

Maybe I just haven't searched hard enough, but I still haven't found one song+slideshow combo from YouTube whose audio sample rate is different than 44.1kHz . Regarding WMM — drop it. The AVI container and VirtualDub can use the WMV3 codec, and basic Avisynth scripts cannot be too difficult to learn.
Last but not least, 1080p @ YouTube == overkill.

1080 bitrate at Youtube is awful.
Use 720p.

thanks for the suggestions, and yeah something is wrong if 1080 is worse or the same but then again it's youtube and....yeah it's youtube lol. Anyhow i only use it for audio so a profile editor was lurking around in comp (just found it recently) through a comp search, which it allows to custom edit the kbps of the audio to exceed movie makers 190 kbps so called hd (sad isn't it?) up to around 700 kbps without a huge increase in file size, not to mention its 720p and 1080 doable so the youtube player unlocks those options (guess the lesson for me is, never use pre baked options, far far worse).

And yes El Heggunte even hd is 44 (im not sure about 1080p) but im pretty sure 720 is aswell, correct me if im wrong.

So i think ill stick with this one since it's good enough and maybe even slightly overkill.
