    Hi.

Can anyone give me some info on the LG BD555c blu-ray player?

I would like to know the quality of the up-conversion, ease of up-dating firmware and if there are any issues with the player at all.

    Thanks

You really should not be updating firmware often, not even on a BluRay player. Manufacturers like to get consumers to do this, but it's rarely necessary. We had a thread just a week or so ago from a guy who ran into problems applying a firmware update. They are not risk free and unless there is a really compelling reason to do one such as a disc you have simply will not play without it, in my opinion you should not worry about it. I bought my current BluRay player something like 2 years ago and I've never updated the firmware on it. I'm not going to tell you that I buy tons of BluRay discs, but I've never bought one yet that required a firmware update to play. And I buy Disney BluRay discs from time to time and Disney is one of the most paranoid anti-copy studios there is and I've never had any issues with their BluRays.

  3. I own the bd 550 which didn't need a firmware update but I did anyways it was easy justy make sure you extract from the zip and remove the rom file from the folder and place on a empty usb or data cd or data dvd, I noticed it add feature for bluray discs like special menus more stable support etc.... audio performance on mine is amazing with bluray as I don't have a HDTV I can't comment on the video that only it looks great on my old school one, use hdmi cable if you got a hdtv.
