  1. I am tired of waiting almost 2 hours for 5 minutes of video from my ATI AIW 128 (16 meg) to encode with tmpeg encoder (capture format: 720x480, encoding format: NTSC VCD highest quality motion search, no filters). I have been considering a Dazzle DVC (usb) or DVC2. Does anyone know if the mpeg1 capture is better on the DVC2? I have also considered the Creative Movie Maker (usb) and even the Snazzi PCI (old Dazzle (?)). I am aware that hardware capture can never surpass avi to mpeg quality-wise but I'm just looking for decent quality capture without having to upgrade my whole system. Links to sample clips on replies would be excellent. If anyone has the above mentioned hardware or anything else not mentioned please share your opinions. I especially wanna hear about the Creative Movie Maker.

  2. I know you are wanting information mostly on the Movie Maker but you did mention the DVC USB and I just wanted to say do not even remotely consider it for direct to VCD recordings. It is absolutely awful at the standard VCD settings.

The only thing I use those settings for is recording news and financial shows where the picture quality really doesn't matter much to me but keeping the file size down does. But anything entertainment wise will just make you sit there and be VERY unentertained.

  3. Thanks hunghuynh but that's a little out of my budget although it does look nice. I also would like something that isn't stand alone and can be edited before writing on to cdr.
