  1. Does anyone know of any websites where I can easily find forced subs of movies that have them? Ive found lots of sites with all of the subs but I only need the ones in a foreign language, movies like Davinci Code, Green Zone(when speaking iraqi).

PS I do not have the DVDs with me, they are at home and I'm at college so thats not an option.

    Thanks

    Er what the ?

Forced actually means subtitles which play automatically when a dvd is played ... nothing more ... this is why you'll find none, lol

To do this you would need to reauthor the dvd and use a program like pgcedit to set the vm command for the title which you want the subtitle to appear automaticlly for ... very easy once you know the vm commands ... and help is always here if you need to know how to do it

  3. Yeah i get what you are saying. Maybe I explained it wrong. Heres the example...

I got Green Zone from a friend and put it on my computer. It still has a separate subtitle track for the whole movie, but it is either all or nothing. They speak a foreign language in parts and that is all I want to show. I somehow found what I needed for District 9 online cant remember where. This file allowed me to have a separate file of only the alien language subs, so i deleted the english subs using mkvmerge and works great. I have no idea if it was just dumb luck that I found those, the only other thing I can think of doing is going through and picking out what subs I want and dont want and deleting them manually, but that would be a major pain.

  4. Sometimes the alien/foreign language bits have their own separate subtitle stream (and technically they're not forced subs). In such cases you don't have to do anything but use it. It doesn't matter if they're graphic-based (VobSubs/SUP) or text based (SRT, SSA, etc.). However, other times the forced subs are part of the larger subtitle stream that also includes the original language. They're only a small part of the total lines of dialog. On the DVD they're marked as Forced and only the foreign/alien parts will play unless you choose to play everything. If you have the VobSubs (IDX/SUB) for such films, you can open the IDX and set it to play only the forced parts. I think you can extract those forced subs also. However, if it's been converted to text already (SRT, SSA, etc.) you're out of luck and you have no choice but to edit the subs, removing what you don't want. Where to find just the foreign/alien parts? I haven't a clue, except the usual suspects of the subtitle sites. There's a good list in a sticky in the Subtitle Forum here.

  5. BDSup2Sub has an option to export only forced subs. When you load the idx/sub or ifo/sup subtitles it will give a count of those marked as forced as well as total subs. If none are marked as forced but there are only a few subs that's an indication they are all "forced" as far as you are concerned. In the latter case use the entire sub set rather than export.
