Hey all,
I recently bought a new set of headphones which allows the connect of optical cable. When i play back through VLC i get the best sound by selecting the A/52 over SPDIF option from within the audio right click menu. The problem i am having though is that most of the videos i play back through VLC play sound for 1 second then stop playing sound all together on this option, only a few videos allow the play back through this option.
Ive searched through the forums and came across :
Go to [Preferences] and check [Advanced Options]
Then Expand [Audio] and select [Output modules]
Change [Audio output module] to [Win32 waveOut extension output]
Then click on [Save] and quit and re-start VLC
Which didnt seem to make a difference.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks in advance![]()

Welcome dove32
Use media info to determine if the video with issue contains 5.1 audio ... if not it may be you need something like ffdshow to compliment audio output between the playback program and the systems hardware ... something to test as vlc has it's own inbuilt decoders.
