Ok this is the deal..
awhile ago i created a avi movie on my computer and converted it to vcd with TMPGenc...there were no problems.
The first 3 days i could watch the VCD with no problem at all.
All of a sudden after 3 days i couldnt watch it anymore! My mediaplayer gave me a warning that it wasnt able to play it.
I tried fixing it in a couple other programs, none of it could load it.
After that i send a couple of friends the VCD, they were able to play the first 7 seconds ONLY.
I thought it was real strange, after that somebody adviced me to run the program MPEG-Corrector over it.
I did it. It corrected only the first 7 seconds.
I think its so strange because i WAS able to play it in its entire form the first 3 days...
I got the feeling that the TMPG program might have corrupted it since its a 30-day trial, but other people tell me thats not possible.
CAN ANYBODY HELP ME?! I HAVE NO BACKUP FOR THAT MOVIE....I REALLY NEED IT RESTORED....
thanks in advance.

Well, here we go.
If it was in pure vcd standard or xvcd, the only way u could have a problem playing it now is if u keep it in a dat file. If u do, just take that dat file, run it thru vcdgear, extract the mpg out of it then play the mpg.ShiZZZoN PzN

ok im not exactly sure what you mean..
I just had an avi movie and converted it directly with TMPGenc to VCD, with one of the standard VCD settings from that program
Now i cant play it anymore...i never seen any DAT file.
But i noticed that other mpg's i, for example multiplexed with that program, also have problems with playback.
Only i CAN fix them with MpgCorrector, the vid i NEED to fix with it only does the first 7 seconds
cmon guys...i need all the help i can get -
ok, so u havent burned these yet i take it, cuz u say u see no dat file, so u havent burned em yet, hmm, let me think
ah, i know, if u do not have wmp 7.1, either get that, or dl xing mpeg player.
If u do have wmp 7.1, PLEASE tell me what error message it says so i know why it wont play.ShiZZZoN PzN

I have downloaded Xing Mpg Player it will only play the first 7 seconds like before...i havent tried WMP 7.0 because i know the guys who i sent it to have it and they also got the same problem
I have to translate to error message to English so ima try:
"Can not open. Check the path or filename and try again."
in the advanced it says this: " (Fout=80070005) "
("fout" means Error in Dutch)
This is what i think is the problem
I think that TMPGenc has corrupted the file. Cuz i only get problems with MPG's when i encode it with that program.. i never had any problem when i encoded stuff with LSX Mpeg Encoder.
I believe TMPG corrupted it because it WAS able to play the first 3 days.
The funny thing is that the file does say its 56mb while it will only play the first 7 seconds.
its so confusing
I hope u can help SEAN MADISON!!

Have you tried converting the corrupt VCD to some other format? Then if it worked in the other format, you could convert it back to VCD. Probably won't work, but if you really need the video it can't hurt to try.

Ive tried that..it wont work
some programs wont even load it
The programs that do..only convert the first 7 seconds -
U know what, i just thought of something.
ur file size is only 56 mb? that must mean that tmpgenc errored encoding that by somehow it crashed ur pc when it did it or stopped encoding cuz something happened that day of encoding.
Thats another reason.
Try encoding again.ShiZZZoN PzN
