  1. Have converted a few movie files some are good but some have funny coloured squares on them which ruin the movie. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this please.

  2. htis sounds like blocking and does happen what method from start to finish are you using if you are using tmpgenc to encode got sefy templates in the tools section under other

  3. macroblocks are not what i think he is talking about.

    "colored squares" counds like one of the 2 possibilities-

    u are playing this on ur pc and not properly playing it correctly, or

    ur dvd player doesnt support the format u encoded it as ur tmpgenc somehow corrupted the movie which when played back on ur dvd player, it does this, or u got scratches or smudges on the cd(real dvds can do this too.)

    OK, i will help with playing back on pc part-

    If it is a vcd\xvcd, use vcdgear to convert the dat file in the mpegav dir back to mpg on your hard drive.

    If it is an svcd\xsvcd, open tmpgenc, go to file, mpeg tools, merge and cut. Select- mpeg2 supervideoCD stream and run ur mpg thru this(ONLY IF IT IS AN svcd\xsvcd).

  4. Also, if it is an svcd, make sure u are playing it either in a software dvd player or have elecard mpeg2 decoder installed, but ONLY AFTER u follow the steps above first.
