So this is a huge forum and I haven't begun to navigate around these waters, so I have a simple question that maybe someone can help me with.

I am trying to convert PAL vobs to NTSC vobs with the original DVD menu's, and perhaps other extra's intact. It is essential I keep the menu's, because I already know how to use ConvertXtoDVD ..which will burn PAL vob files, but will not keep the original DVD menu or extra's. I have tried several programs and wasted a heap of dvd's on this project.

programs I used with accompanying tutorials:

    -IFOedit
    -DVD shrink
    -imgburn
    -OJsoft Total Video Converter
    -VobBlanker
    -Virtualdub
    -Ashampoo
    -Nero express 10
    -DVDfab

There are some others, but I don't want to make a huge list.

The thing is some of these programs say you can convert PAL to NTSC, but they always fail. I have attempted
all these programs for some time, and I am ready to throw the towel in on this one and get a "Multi-Regional DVD Player", but I fear I will have more problems if I get the wrong one.

Can anyone give me some quality advice how to convert PAL vobs to NTSC ready for burning, if you will? Or at least recommend a great budget friendly multi-regional dvd player? I would really appreciate someone's assistance on this matter.

Get the player and save yourself a lot of grief. For cheap, about any Philips player can do it.

    or

I have the Pioneer 420V and it is FAB, even has picture adjustments which reduce noise from VHS transfers

I am one of those people who tend to over think and over complicate a lot of things, having many hundreds of DVD;s from around the world in my collection though, I have never converted any from PAL to NTSC, other than one offs for friends/relatives who will insist on hanging on to their NTSC only dvd player.

Make life easy, spend under a $100 on a dvd player and relax.
