  1. I get horizontal lines after I encode from AVI (DV) to a high resolution like DVD or SVCD, they are not constant and vary with the picture, fast moving shots tend to get worse but then a few frames later it dissappears for a few frames and the it is back...almost like a lot of data causes the prob's.
I have updated all my drivers and even though I can get good quality in lower resolutions I like to archive in DVD format..
I am hoping for a whip to help me on way....

I think you have to deinterlace your DV Avi.I had the same problem, after deinterlacing (with VirtualDub), everything was smooth in the resulting SVCD.These lines are very visible in frames with fire glares and fast moving clouds (explosions).

  3. Have not used virtual dub yet, just downloaded it ( thank you MR VirtualDub) and I will give it a try, I did read somewhere about changing fields form odd to even etc in TMPEnc, I tried that and It got rid of the smaller lines, a 80% improvement. Still have about 5-6 large horizontal lines and the picture inbetween these lines is not syncing once again when there is lots of fast movement on the screen.
But I am happyu to say I am getting there.
