Can someone tell me of any programs I can use to backup data onto CD and DVD and encrypt

I've searched, but surprisingly can't find anything

    Would like open source
But happy to pay if there are no good free ones

    Thanks

  2. TrueCrypt http://www.truecrypt.org/, free and opensource: Create a file hosted volume and burn it unto CD, like you burn a normal file. Will work just fine.

so i can specify a specific folder to be encrypted?
    please confirm
it's something i considered before - but thought it meant encrypting ur whole drive?
looking at the program again now though - EDIT: i've looked at again and it doesn't say anywhere that u can encrypt a folder and everything under it - or at leas it doesn't explicitly say this - so let me know if u know otherwise
    thanks

  4. Truecrypt creates password encrypted containers to host a file like a video or document inside it like a mkv holds h.264 video,
so you can select any type of file but the disk can only be played back on a computer not a standalone dvdplayer.

The computer that creates the encrypted disk needs truecrypt while if you open the disk on any other computer you only need the password.
<You Need Truecrypt on your computer - Your Friends computer doesn't need truecrypt to decode, it only needs the password.

    Heres a quick guide: http://www.ghacks.net/2009/08/10/how-to-password-protect-data-on-cds-or-dvds/
