  1. so i got an MKV and i want to Mux it to an AVI, but i seem to be having lots of problems doing so, all programs i come across want to transcode the video, i don't want to do that, i want to keep my h.264 video and my DTS audio and put it into the AVI container, how do i do this?

  2. Not a good idea, AVI isn't a very stable container for h.264 video. You can have playback issues with b-frames, and green frames offsetting the video (desync)

If you still want to do it anyway, mkvextract to extract streams, avc2avi to mux video, avi-mux gui to mux audio
