I just installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Setup and DirectX 9.0 Web setup(hoping to get the new NPVR software to work on my computer) and found a bunch of files on one of my two internal storage drives...a lot of .dll files included.

How can I tell if these are duplicates(that I can simply delete) or if I'm screwed and Microsuck actually installed them here?

i'd delete them. m.s. most likely used the drive with the most free space as a temp storage area, but forgot to clean up after itself. they don't look like properly named dlls anyway. i'd guess they were copied and renamed into the system32 folder.

if i'm wrong then just re-install the programs, but i wouldn't allow that crap in the root of any of my drives.

So far so good, I'm still here and I(nor my computer) have not fallen into a black hole.
    Thank You for the encouragement....

Glad you're still alive and well
Anyway, it's weird that the damn installer placed the temp files
on the root directory of a secondary HDD
Even the installers from Creative, ATI and HP are not so...
