I'm using TMPGEnc for encoding. I am getting square blocks during playbacks. I am encoding SVCD at 2300 bit rate. Are there any setting changes in TMPGEnc to get rid of them ?
Thanks for your help

i need way more info, bud, like the following-
U playing it back on home dvd player or pc?
Are the blocks bad quality blocks, interlaced blocks, or damaged video\cd blocks-----(these types of blocks are green\purple and so on ONLY on home dvd player units)ShiZZZoN PzN

These blocks are scattered throughout the picture when view on the TV screen. These square blocksappear and disappear. They also appears to shift colors and turining lighter than darker.
I encode the movie using a D2V file. I have tried making XVCDs using the 720x480 resolution. I've also used the standard 480x480 resolution. I encode at a Constant Quality bitrate of 2300 at 100 quality. I have also made changes in the Quantize Matrix Tab by checking the soft block noise box and tweeking the intra box and non-intra box to 100.
Are there any setting changes I need to do.
I do notice the blocks do get smaller when I encode at 2520.
I would appreciate any help.
Thanks

ok, i dont know if they fixed this for new versions of tmpgenc but v 2.02 i know and lower for a fact that if u set the quality to 100, blocks will ALWAYS appear no matter what ur bitrate is.
Try lowering it down to 65.
Now, when u say lighter and darker, make sure u r not running it thru ur vcr, even though some vcrs decrypt it quite well, u can still have light\dark phases and static lines slowly going up the screen.
Now, i see these are normal blocks so this is easier.
These blocks should only appear when there is motion.
If i were you, i would suggest first, practicing encoding at 352x240 standard vcd resolution.
You will get a nie picture indeed but not as crisp as dvd, as conpared if u used svcd which is at 480x480.
For the processing power and time needed to get good pic out of 480x480, u better have a fast machine.
U would have to do 2 pass, highest quality(highest is beter than high, noticable on fast motion scenes and longer movie durations) and that should be the most part of it.
Hope that helpsShiZZZoN PzN
