  1. I have footage from a GoPro Hero (MP4 H.264) that I'm trying to convert to anything that I can edit (AVI or WMV are what I have been trying to use). Using RAD Video tools it just keeps making a blank file and not actually converting it. I tried downloading another free converter (Movavi 10) but that crashes every time I even try to load a file. If anyone has 1. A way to convert them or 2. A editing program that doesn't need to convert them (or is better than Microsoft Movie Maker) please let me know.

    Cheers

  3. Thanks, that worked. But now I'm running into the problem that movie maker recognizes it as an audio file and wont get the video even though I can watch the avi video.

  4. what kind of editing ?

you should be able to do simple cuts type editing directly on the native file in avidemux

Try Sony Vegas Movie Studio. It supports the GoPro format. I got a Gopro a couple weeks ago myself, great little videocam.

Vegas also accepts image sequences too, in case you want to use the picture every X seconds feature on the GoPro.

Movie maker dosent understand h.264 encoded files ... and rad video tools is the wrong program.

Should check out Baldrick's guide while it's still on the main page > thread 331848 using Freemake Video Converter

  7. I'm looking to edit to cut out the boring parts mostly. Add captions ocasionally, add stills here and there. Looks like vegas should work well for what I want. Thanks
