My question is not how to play the M2TS files (I have Nero and it works fine with them), my question is how do I view the files as they are in my Windows folders on my drive. I have a Sony HDD camcorder (HDR-XR520V) and have transferred the files to my hard drive so I can edit them into home movies with Nero 10. One bad thing though, as I am trying to organize them in my folders, all I can see is a basic film strip icon for the files, they are not showing up in an icon I can easily view. Previous files I have downloaded from an older Sony camera (Sony DCR-SR85)actually show the graphic icon of the files (since they are regular movie files).
How can I view the M2TS files for easy viewing?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Do you mean icons or thumbnails?

I have K-Lite Codec Tweak Tool set to show thumbnails for m2ts files using XP.

You can change the icon in Explorer by clicking Tools, Folder Options, File Types, m2ts, Advanced, Change Icon.

Here's what I see. The M2TS thumbnails are just regular icons in which I can't see what the video is (no preview picture) unlike the 2 mpgs in the folder.

I am still having an issue viewing preview thumbnails of my imported m2ts video files from my camcorder. In fact, preview thumbnails for some of my .mpg videos are showing as just the default icon and not one that shows the first frame (like they used to).
There has to be a way to rectify this. Please refer to the above picture to see what I am talking about. I need to be able to see the thumbnail so I can tell what scene it was that I filmed.
Thanks in advance for the assistance on this.
