    I want to convert AVCHD to mpeg2. I was looking at multiAVCHD which seems to get some pretty good reviews. I am a bit unclear as to if multiAVCHD will create mpeg2 files that I can use, or does it prepare only VOBs for DVD burning? Thnx....

    It does not appear to do just mpeg files:

    This is the list of outputs available for multiavchd 4.1:

    You could always import the video_ts folder into whatever authoring app you were planning on using. Also multiavchd has its own menu creation system as well for dvds.

    Edit - if you must have mpeg2 files you can use avstodvd to create a dvd compliant mpeg file from avchd sources.

    Or you could use vob2mpg to reverse engineer the vob from multiavchd if you must have a mpeg file.
