Hi,
I am doing video editing as a hobby and am not a pro (yet).
Recently i have finished editing my holiday tapes (DV PAL format) with Premiere CS5 (Windows7) on my Intel Q9450 system, Nvidia 285GTX with an Eizo S2431W LCD monitor. I am currently reading a color correction handbook. My Eizo LCD is calibrated at 6500K with a X-rite i1Display2. I even have a hood covering my Eizo to prevent light reflections affecting my colors on screen. I have a small (non-calibrated!) camping TV which i use to preview the edited material, passed through a Sony PC100 dv cam with firewire cable attached to my computer. Since i can not calibrate my TV i can only rely on the (hopefully) accurate colors that i see in my Eizo LCD.
I would like to do some good color corrections and i wonder if my current equipment suffices or what i need in addition?
I will go HD way soon, when i get a HD videocam like the Sony CX550VE, so the solution should be able to handle HD too.
I would like to know how can i edit in Premiere CS5 and see my preview on TV in realtime. I will get rid of the DV cam soon.
I am researching a decklink studio card to give me this preview on TV, but how does this works? Realtime in Premiere CS5?
I have read about broadcast/video monitors for previewing and which you can preset the color temp to 6500K, but these monitors are way to expensive for me. Matrox MXO2 mini seems to be having issues.
Can I attach a calibrated NEC LCD2490WUXI2 as preview monitor instead and is this accurate? Its now here down to 650 euro for this LCD.
The CRT tv that i use has the advantage that i can see what the safe area in reality is...i don't want to loose details in my footage.
Will a low resolution video monitor be able to handle HD material? Will it automatically scale it down for previewing?
Sorry, if my questions are a little bit unorganized..i am new to color correcting. I hope someone could give me some advice and an affordable solution.
I will upgrade my system to a Sandy Bridge systeem in a couple of months to get some more performance while editing.
Thanks for any advice/help in advance.

Nobody?
I decided to get me a Decklink Intensity Pro card now to preview my video from Adobe Premiere CS5 on the CRT tv. For this i have a s-video cable splitted to 2 rca connectors ordered...i hope it will work, cause this PAL tv is just a SD tv with composite, scart, s-video only.
I would like to calibrate this tv..so far i have done it with a monster isf calibration dvd, but i don't have the blue only gun option on my consumer tv. To calibrate it correctly i read i need a Wratten 47B blue filter. Does anyone knows where i can get such a sheet? Website bhphotovideo.com doesn't sell it anymore. I am interested in the sheet version not the lens filter which is way too expensive.
My tv output is pretty near the output of my tv-card in the calibrated computer LCD screen..i wonder if this is sufficient.
In worse case, i might get the entry level Sony video monitor LMD1530W, which seems to also be able to view HD video also...but i won't buy until i have tried this. -
Guess nobody is doing color correction on videos?..hmm..
Well, after testing a not working intensity pro card, i am wiping all these silly cards out of my setup.
I will just go extend my current LCD monitor with a 2nd LCD monitor that is color accurate. I will get me an Eizo CG245 (H-IPS panel) soon, which should be excellent for color correction and got EBU, 709 presets. No need for a separate video monitor then. My workspace will be increasing plus i get accurate colors without anymore silly I/O cards that don't work. Thanks for reading. Upgrading to Sandy Bridge soon -
Very complex subject. No time now. It may be late night in Euro, but 2:21 pm here.
