  1. Hello,
I recorded an excerpt of an HD tv program. It's in MPEG TS.
I was looking for some help : what do you use to demux it and cut directly video ?

My problem is ProjectX doesn't have enough memory to display frames, so I can't see where I need to put the cut, furthermore, it doesn't want to output something.

What software would you use in that case ?

    Thanks in advance !

  3. projectx does no cut h.264/avc streams it can only edit mpeg2. You can try H264TS_Cutter, TSSniper, Ts Doctor or videoredo most aren't freeware I would try avidemux first as it can handle most h.264 stream.

  4. Ok thank you very much !

So I have tested all except videoredo and TSdoctor.

TsMuxer doesn't take anything else than video.
TSSniper demux everything (VLC can't get the audio, but Windows Media Player can, wtf ?), without subs.
TsRemux can't output a correct file.
    H264TS_Cutter can't open any file
    ProjectX demux only audio/subs.

It seems I can make something not bad.

But I discovered DGAVCDec, it seems it decode correctly !

  5. Ok, I really don't know why it fails sync audio and video when I mux it into MKV : video go fast and slow down frequently.

    I'm trying with Avidemux.

Any idea for this problem ?
    Edit:
I don't know I tried two demuxers and two muxers.
Avidemux gaves an awful video, unwatchable.

    Thank you very much

Edit : I'll try this way : demux with dcavdec and split it later (i'll try to see if the TS file is not corrupted : just saw "there is a detection of a different audio codec than announced" :-° ).

  8. I did another test : recording with my Tuner TV card.
And it appears, it works very well. Muxing in MKV after Demuxing (and there's a lot of video tracks due to the transponder).

So I guess it comes from the Freebox HD (a DVB-T Recorder).

Any idea to fix this ?

P.S. What do the professional of video-editing use ? (I don't see them working on lots of free and open-sourced switching between them from time to time...)

  9. What I see from your file is it has AVC video and mp2 audio, for mkv you need to encode the audio as mkv doesn't accept mp2 as far as I know So in avidemux select Video to copy and Audio to AAC 128kbps or 192kbps, MKV can also hold AC3 so choose what you like.

  10. Wow ! Now it sync perfectly.

I'll try on bigger video files (I lost lot of time doing this on 2h movie :P ).

Now, I demux the video with DGAVDEC and use MediaCoder then mkvmerge. Avidemux seems to have some decoding problems (errors...).
    I'll check this out deeper.

    Thank you very much !
