    Hi all.

I`m new to this forum, but have found many answers in the past scrolling through the threads.
I`ve been using Vegas 7 for many years now and still do, simply because it works well, but need to upgrade to HD editing.
Will Movie Studio HD platinum be adequate and can it do more or less the same as Vegas 7? (I mainly do weddings)
Is it able to import and edit .mts HD files form Canon cameras.
I find Vegas 10 Pro a little expensive.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Just try the free trial and see how it works. And yep, it can import avchd mts/m2ts files.

Prieur, as Baldrick said you can try both versions (Pro vs. Studio).

The Movie Studio is very generous bundle but lack some of the pro features which actually you might not use. You can compare the versions side by side at Sony creative media homepage.

About price - I upgraded from Vegas 7 pro to ver. 10 for just 139USD at the time of issue.
Just register your current version and they often have promotions - usually up to 50% discount on their upgrade plan for owners of earlier versions.

Like mentioned above, MSPPP is an extremely capable and robust NLE. Certainly adequate for 90% of the work out there.

What Pro offers is advanced compositing tools, basic rotoscoping capability, unlimited tracks, network rendering, and more esoteric stuff like that.

Vegas Pro has many advanced features that are not apparent to the dabblers, like motion blur applied via the video buss track. A lot of stuff is sort of hidden so newbies don't get overwhelmed.

Compositors look for specific tools that are mathematical in nature, so these tools are not highlighted as features because the average user would not understand how they work.

I would say that for wedding videos, Pro would be a waste of money.
