  1. I have a video that is supposed to be 1080p. Should that be reflected in the "Height" measurement in mediainfo?

Or does it affect other measurements?

    Here are the specs:

also use gspot to verify although it may not do mkv but still good to have around

  3. Oh yes, that explains the 'p,' but could the resolution really be 1080? Or closer to 720?

I'm not being a stickler on video quality as much as figuring out if I am reading it correctly.

    Thanks!!

This should mean the video is 1920x800 with a 2.40:1 aspect ratio. That is nonstandard. My guess is it was cropped and resized somehow.

If it really was 1080 it should read width 1920 height 1080.

Well I'm not a medical doctor so I can't make that diagnosis

But for another opinion on the video issue yes I would say you're not crazy about that - other members are free to debate however.

1920x1080p version would include letterbox bars for 2.40 to 1 aspect ratio.

  8. Someone started with a 1080p 2.4:1 aspect ratio Blu-ray rip (1920x1080) and cropped away the black borders leaving an 1920x800 frame. So it still has all the picture information of the original 1920x1080 frame -- except for recompression losses. For all practical purposes it is still a 1080p video, though maybe over compressed.

At an average bitrate of 4 096 Kbps that is a pretty fair assumption (and probably being generous)
