  1. hi everyone,
i am having problems the audio from a 700mb EvolutionDivx.avi i have downloaded. when i play it in windows media, its fine, brilliant quality and the audio is great. but when i put it in TMPG, it wont let me use it as an audio source, so........ i opened it in virtualdub and it had a VBR error, saying it has detected improper VBR encoding etc etc... i followed one of the guides onhere that says to ignore warnings/errors but when i try to Save WAV when Full Processing Mode is selected, it wont let me do it because it 'is not compatible with the input format'. however, when i select direct stream copy, i can make a WAV audio file and use it in TMPG, but its way out of sync with the video. I have had audio problems with a lot of downloaded films, some are fine but others aren't. Please can someone help?! its driving me mad!

    Thank you very much

  2. As you will notice, I am having the same problem with getting my videos to work right. I have tried ripping the sound as avi, but I can't even do that for some reason. So you have a step ahead of me there. Can you give me a little info as to:

    1. What audio/video software you have installed
    2. What codecs you are using
    3. Anything else you think might be helpful, so maybe we can both help each other out here.

  3. hi,
right, ive solved my problem() at last, so i'll tell you how i did it.
The software i use, if you can call it that, is TMPGEnc, dbpoweramp and a new one ive just found called AVI2VCD (http://www.mnsi.net/~jschlic1/).
i figured out the problem was that my audio needed decompressing before it would work, so sa i said i had no luck with TMPG and i also tries DBpoeramp, which i also had no luck with. I searched for avi encoders on google and the avi2vcd link above came up, so i downloaded the program on the off-chance it might have something useful. When i put my movie in it to encode it into mpg, a similar error came up to that of tmpg and dbpower amp, but....... there is also another program in the avi2vcd downloaded file, called decompressor.exe. simply load you movie into this and it will change your audio into a compatible format (hurray!). its all really simple when you try it. Load the newly created file into TMPG and encode it as you normally would. If you dont know how to then use the guides available on this site, really easy. I hope that helps you, any problems then send me an email (if you can) or i'll check back on here tomorrow.
    happy encoding
