Hi-
I'm using StreamTransport to grab tv shows. The .flvs are coming in at ~260mb. Is there a way to convert these to a stream-able format on my server without having to compress or alter them in the process? What I'm asking here is there a way to convert those .flvs straight through to a different file type with altering or compressing the original .flv and hence degrading the original file(s)?
Thanks,
Mark

two options I can think of off the top of my head:

use a streamer like ps3mediaserver, playon, or tversity. They will transcode the file and play it back on a device that reads upnp dlna servers.

2 - this is trickier depending on the source material - if they are h264 flvs you can change them to mp4 without reencoding with winff. That is if your destination device can play mp4 with h264 and assuming the original flvs are h264 to begin with.

Other than that you will have to reencode them to a format that your player can handle.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

	Thanks, Yoda.

I can stream a ton of different file types from (through) my Netgear DE.

I'll try #2 when I get home and keep my fingers crossed

@newtie - good luck. I don't know what winff can and can't do. I know it can work with h264 flv files as I have done it many many times with success. However there may be other flavors it can work with. I haven't delved into the full workings of winff. You could check with member bat999. That is who instructed me on method number 2 for h264 flv files. Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

I had no luck with Winff...some command line app that I don't really understand. Kept saying that my file had an 'unsupported' something or other.

ANYway, I went with Handbrake and it seems to be doing pretty well. I'll stick with it for a while and see how it goes. BTW, switching .flv to mp4 worked on my PC, but not on the DE. Oh well.
